Community Safety Partnership is an advocacy initiative founded to support practical, community-centred approaches to reducing landmine and explosive ordnance harm in conflict-affected settings.
About CSP
CSP works to reduce the use and impact of landmines and explosive ordnance by connecting community experience with humanitarian advocacy, local partnership, donor engagement and public storytelling.
We work in places where conventional responses may be delayed by insecurity, politics, access constraints or limited funding. In these environments, CSP advocates for practical steps that can reduce harm now while helping create the conditions for future survey, marking and clearance.

To reduce the use and impact of landmines and explosive ordnance through practical, community-led humanitarian advocacy.
Our approach
CSP’s approach is grounded in trust, discretion and practical problem-solving.
We listen to affected communities. We work through local organisations and community leaders. We engage humanitarian partners and donors. And, where appropriate, we support principled dialogue with parties to conflict to promote civilian protection and reduce landmine harm.
What makes CSP different
CSP is small, specialist and relationship-based. We are able to work close to complex realities, listen carefully to communities, engage those with influence over harm, and translate field evidence into practical advocacy.
Our work is not about replacing mine action operators. It is about helping create the conditions in which mine action, risk reduction and civilian protection become more possible.
Leadership
Community Safety Partnership is led by Bekim Shala, a humanitarian mine action and community safety specialist with extensive experience in advocacy, coordination, local partnership, donor engagement and work with communities affected by landmines and explosive ordnance.
Bekim has worked across mine action, humanitarian coordination and advocacy roles, supporting engagement with local organisations, UN agencies, NGOs, donors and affected communities.

Photography
The photographs featured throughout this website were taken on our sites by internationally renowned humanitarian photographer Sean Sutton. His work documents the realities faced by communities living with the threat of landmines and explosive ordnance, capturing both the human cost of conflict and the resilience of those working to rebuild their lives.
We have chosen to present these photographs in black and white because they are not simply historical records. They are reminders that the people portrayed continue to live with the consequences of landmines and explosive ordnance today.
We are grateful to Sean for allowing Community Safety Partnership to use these images in support of our advocacy, helping to raise awareness of the urgent need for practical action to reduce landmine harm.
